How many of you equally treat the beauty of your feet as your face and hands? I think very few. Feet are usually our least concern when it comes to beauty especially for mommies and working women, even though they are as important as our face and hands. Feet are that part of our body which is affected by the physical fatigue the most. So here is the procedure to do pedicure at home to enhance beauty and release tiredness. Personally, I am too lazy to go to salon for a treatment and honestly speaking I cannot afford expensive pedicures with my limited pocket money.  =p

The things we need for a DIY pedicure are:
  1. Nail polish remover
  2. Pedicure kit (clipper, pumice, cuticle pusher and cutter, filler)
  3. Scrub
  4. Moisturizer
  5. And Nail polish

Procedure:

I divided the pedicure procedure into 4 major steps

Preparation and soaking:

In this stage we have to do 2 things. First, remove the nail polish properly with the help of nail polish remover. Secondly, fill a tub with warm water and soak your feet in it for 15 to 20 minutes. You may add a few drops of foot wash. Alternatively, you can add body/face wash, shampoo or a pinch of salt. Remove your feet from the tub and pat them with towel. This process removes dirt and softens cuticles and dead skin. This will be helpful in next steps.

Scrubbing:

The second step is to remove rough and dead skin. Massage your feet for 10 minutes with any scrub of your choice properly to the ankles and use pumice to scrub heels. You can make scrub with natural ingredients at home, by mixing olive oil and sugar. Sugar is the best ingredient to remove dead skin in minutes and maintain the softness. Wash your feet again and dry them with towel.

Clean and shape up nails:

In this step we will focus on nails. Start from trimming the nails with the help of sharp clipper. Few things should be kept in mind while clipping toe nails.
  • Do not cut corners of your nail too deep otherwise it may lead to pain.
  • Do not cut toenail too much, leave some white part.
  • For neatness, cut your nail little by little, not in one going.
Okay then, file your nails with the help of filler to make your nails even and try to shape your nail slightly squared. If you file your nail in one direction, it will prevent your nail to damage in layer.
Thereafter, push cuticles by using cuticle pusher and cut away extra cuticles. Neat and clean cuticles beautify your toe.

Moisturize and nail Colour:

Once you have done with cuticles, moisturize your feet properly with any moisturizer of your choice. I mostly use my homemade lotion that is a mixture of rose water, glycerine and lemon juice.
At last apply a coat of nail paint and let it dry for a few minutes. That’s it, you are done with pedicure.

You will feel relaxed after the pedicure and it removes all your tiredness.
At last, hope the above information will help you and it will not disappoint you. If you think there is something missing, or if you have any suggestion, feedback or a question in your mind don't forget to comment below and Ask Miss Tipsy  :)

  1. These are great tips for a home pedicure but another option is getting one at a medispa. Those with certain health issues might even have insurance coverage for it. And they include pampering and polish at most places.
